Keene Representing Kentucky at End Slavery Event at Freedom Center
Wilder, KY–Representative Dennis Keene will participate as a speaker and panelist for the Human Trafficking & Public Policy event at Cincinnati’s Freedom Center on Thursday, July 18, 2013. Keene will be speaking on Kentucky’s human trafficking laws and will participate on a panel along with Ohio State Representative Denise Driehaus and Cincinnati City Council Member Yvette Simpson.
Representative Dennis Keene was a co-sponsor of the Human Trafficking Victims Rights Act legislation that passed in Kentucky’s General Assembly in 2013. Human trafficking is among the fastest-growing illegal activity in Kentucky. “Those ugly words describe unimaginable acts that include sexual exploitation, forced labor and false imprisonment. And what is more disturbing is that these acts are being perpetrated upon children as well as adults throughout our commonwealth,” says Rep. Keene. “More needs to be done in terms of public awareness and education.”
Representative Dennis Keene has served the citizens of the 67th District since 2005 and is the chairman of the House Licensing and Occupations Committee, Vice Chairman of Economic Development, Vice Chairman on the Budget Subcommittee on Transportation and a member of the Banking & Insurance Committee.
