Campbell County Selected for Land Water Conservation Fund of over $52,000

Funding to Improve Chief Sayers Park

FRANKFORT, KY. (May 24, 2017) – The Department for Local Government (DLG) selected Campbell County for an award of $52,766.56 from the Land Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) toward improvements in Chief Sayers Park in Silver Grove, KY.

“Preserving and maintaining local parks is an integral part of stewarding our resources so that they might be enjoyed by all,” said DLG Commissioner Sandra Dunahoo. “The investment in Chief Sayers Park will yield many benefits to the children and families of this community.”

The project proposal includes improvements to the baseball field and construction of ADA accessible trails and additional landscaping to Chief Sayers Park.

“I appreciate the effort of Campbell County officials seeking these funds and DLG for realizing the value of investing in improvements to Chief Sayers Park.” Said Sen. Wil Schroder. “These enhancements to the baseball field and trails will provide local residents and outdoor enthusiasts another outlet for recreation in norther Kentucky.”

“I am very thankful of the support of DLG and Commissioner Sandra Dunahoo for awarding these funds,” said Rep. Dennis Keene. “These much needed resources will go to several improvements in Chief Sayers Park.”

Administered by DLG, funds for this program are allocated to Kentucky by the Department of Interior, National Park Service. Only upon their approval and an executed Memorandum of Agreement by DLG, may construction begin.
